that the awesome thing for people who are forced to work with technology who really don’t want to mess with too much tech is that the tech is getting simpler and simpler. Google docs, Outlook, Microsoft Word, all really do have the capacity to make anyone’s job easier without making them crazy, even with a limited knowledge of Office 365. As someone who is switching careers dramatically, almost taking a U turn if you will, from no tech to IT intensity and going into a tech advisory company that focuses on the legal vertical, I can truly relate to the lawyer who is happiest with a legal pad. I can empathize with the entrepreneur who knows that seeing his data will help his bottom line but feels intimidated by the process. I never thought I would want to increase my tech knowledge and it wasn’t my original plan to reenter the workplace by making this my new focus. I am your woman when it comes to feeling lost and confused & left behind by technology. I get it.
I find it encouraging that all of the programs we are expected to understand are now so intuitive and simple that even the most tech challenged can pick them up quickly. Having recently spent some time in the back end of SharePoint I know that to make applications and software “simple” an enormous amount of complicated code goes into it. I also just recently learned how Outlook lets you have several email addresses open in front of you at once. I told you I was new here. You can get organized with Outlook categories and send a tweet without leaving Outlook. Pretty awesome and it actually helps you get more done without taking over your day which can be the worry behind those of us who think we prefer to stay blissfully unaware of these “shortcuts” and solutions.
Ubiquity Wave is a preferred vendor for Microsoft, MatterCenter is our product for the legal vertical that we stand behind more than any other vendor out there, because our founder, Carol Corneby was an enterprise architect of MatterCenter. When it’s your baby, you just love it more, right? We enjoy the challenge of teaching law firms about all that MatterCenter can do for them. We enjoy it even more because of MatterCenter’s intuitiveness, it just flows from email to matter, to pinning matters that are more pressing, to keeping communication constantly flowing with every single soul involved in the case, to eventually tracking the firm’s data..all of this is possible without ever leaving Office 365. As the newbie-est newbie in this awesome IT world in our Capital City, I look forward to sharing more observations with you about MatterCenter and so much more.
